How we work together to produce YOUR books .....| We work closely with you from the beginning of your manuscript preparation. All of the issues such as which software to use, how to format the output, what disks or tapes to use ... along with numerous other technical decisions can be made jointly. We communicate with you regularly throughout your creation process AS WELL AS our production process outlined below - so that the results meet YOUR needs. |
Our part (what we do best, although some authors choose to perform some of these steps themselves) ....
Editing - grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax are checked.* Book design - designing of pages, including book size, type face, chapter headings, paragraph indents, initial caps, width and height of text, leading and paper stock. Page layout - the creation of the actual text in a computer format showing how the finished pages will actually appear. Includes creation of title, copyright and dedication pages as well as pagination and indexing * (if desired). Cover design - Our standard covers are produced in full color on 10 pt. Carolina stock coated one side. We can produce full color covers from your artwork, or we can recommend a cover design artist to work with you.* Proof reading - a detailed check of the edited, designed and printed form of the book against your design intent, usually done by the author. You are expected to sign-off on your review before we go to press. Printing and binding - The actual printing, trimming, assembly and perfect binding of your finished books. Shipping - we ship your finished books, F.O.B. our plant, to any destination. We usually use UPS or FedEx ground services. However we can ship overnite at an additional expense. (* these steps are sometimes done by authors or sub-contracted to others) |
